SAN JOSE (CN) - A former Apple manager was sentenced to a year and a day in prison and ordered to pay $4.5 million in restitution for defrauding the company.
Paul S. Devine was sentenced on Dec. 1, after admitting that he conspired to send confidential information about Apple's business to his co-defendant, Andrew Ang.
Devine sent Apple suppliers product forecasts, price targets and product specifications. The suppliers paid Devine kickbacks, sometimes calculated as a percentage of the contracts with Apple. Devine, 41, of Sunnyvale shared the kickbacks with Ang, who worked for Apple suppliers in Singapore, prosecutors said.
Devine pleaded guilty in 2011 to wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. He was ordered to report to prison on Feb. 19, 2015.
