Forest Labs Faces Heat Over Celexa & Lexapro

ST. LOUIS (CN) - Forest Pharmaceuticals and Forest Laboratories illegally marketed two antidepressant drugs, Celexa and Lexapro, a class action claims in Federal Court. Named plaintiffs Universal Care, Angela Jaeckel and Melvin Fullmer say Forest misled physicians by promoting the positive results of a study of the pediatric use of Celexa while not disclosing the negative results of a contemporaneous study for the same pediatric usage. Forest also paid physicians kickbacks for prescribing the drugs, the lawsuit claims.

The class consists of anybody in the United States who bought Celexa or Lexapro for a minor child since 1998. The class seeks damages and the disgorgement of all funds Forest gained from its practices.

Plaintiffs are represented by Douglas Sprong.
