Forced Labor

A couple living in Texas were properly convicted of forced labor and other charges for forcing a girl from Guinea to work in their home for 16 years from the time she was 9 years old, the Fifth Circuit ruled.

NEW ORLEANS — A couple living in Texas were properly convicted of forced labor and other charges for forcing a girl from Guinea to work in their home for 16 years from the time she was 9 years old, the Fifth Circuit ruled. The couple, who abused and neglected the girl, failed to prove that the forced labor statute’s definition of “serious harm” is unconstitutionally vague or overbroad.
