A federal judge in Illinois dismissed claims that Kraft and other food producers deceived consumers by advertising their grated Parmesan cheese as “100% Parmesan cheese,” finding that the ingredients list on the labels clearly identifies non-cheese ingredients.

CHICAGO – A federal judge in Illinois dismissed claims that Kraft and other food producers deceived consumers by advertising their grated Parmesan cheese as “100% Parmesan cheese,” finding that the ingredients list on the labels clearly identifies non-cheese ingredients.

U.S. District Judge Gary Feinerman also noted that a reasonable consumer would understand that the Parmesan cheese products’ placement on unrefrigerated shelves means it is not pure cheese.
