Florida Courts Of Appeal

PRIVACY, ATTORNEYS - A man sued a law firm for false light invasion of privacy, claiming the firm improperly issued a press release stating that a South Carolina bankruptcy court had ruled against him. The appeals court declined to dismiss the lawsuit, ruling that the firm cannot rely on the actual bankruptcy court ruling at this point in the proceedings. The court also certified the following question: Does Florida recognize the tort of false light invasion of privacy? See ruling.
