Florida Courts of Appeal

DAMAGES - A Florida appeals court held that the statute of limitations barred John Doe's claim that he was sexually abused by a teacher and clergyman at Chaminade High School in the early 1970s. Doe claimed the delay in filing was because the school and church hid the fact that the Archdiocese knew the abuse had occurred. The appeals court found the suit untimely, because Doe failed to allege any facts that would invoke the doctrine of equitable estoppel. Doe No. 23 v. Archdiocese of Miami Inc.
