Firm Claims Rock Promoter Took it for $270K

DALLAS (CN) - A Venezuelan company sued a Dallas-based music promoter, claiming Gabe Reed Productions took $270,000 for a rock 'n' roll "all stars" show, then canceled and refused to return the money.

Evenpro Entertainment Holding sued these defendants as debtors in Dallas County Court: Gabe Reed, Gabe Reed Productions LLC, Visual Inspiration LLC, Diane Miernik, and Sofia Reed; and JP Morgan Chase Bank and Citibank, as garnishees.

None of the rock stars are parties to the complaint.

Evenpro claims that in March it agreed to pay Reed $270,000 for a two-hour concert by the Rock 'n' Roll All Stars, to include Gene Simmons of KISS, Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Ed Roland of Collective Soul, Matt Sorum, Gilby Clark and Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, Steve Stevens, who performed with Billy Idol, Mike Inez of Alice in Chains, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row and Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple.

Reed also agreed to hold a VIP meet-and-greet with the performers, the complaint states.

One month later, Gabe Reed Productions canceled the tour, citing "the failure of the local promoters to comply with contractual obligations," Evenpro says.

It claims it never got its $270,000 back.

Reed, a graduate of the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, has promoted several rock tours in South America since 2009, according to his website.

Evenpro seeks actual damages and prejudgment garnishment. It alleges breach of contract, money had and received, conversion, fraud, unjust enrichment and business disparagement.

It is represented by Michael Hurst with Gruber Hurst in Dallas.
