Fired for Fear of Ebola

The Eleventh Circuit ruled against a Massage Envy employee who was fired for refusing to cancel a trip to Ghana. Her employer feared that she might contract Ebola in the country. 

ATLANTA – The Eleventh Circuit ruled against a Massage Envy employee who was fired for refusing to cancel a trip to Ghana. Her employer feared that she might contract Ebola in the country. 

The Americans with Disabilities Act does not protect individuals who are discriminated against because of a “potential future disability that a healthy person may experience later.”
