WASHINGTON (CN) - A ground fire in a Bombardier, Inc. Commercial Jet has prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to adopt a directive on the routing of airplane oxygen lines.
The fire was fed by oxygen escaping from a damaged oxygen line and had started near an electrical panel.
The new FAA airworthiness directive for certain Bombardier, Inc. Model CL-600-2B19 (Regional Jet Series 100 & 440) airplanes requires replacing and changing the routing of the flexible oxygen hose of the third crew person oxygen line and modifying the entrance compartment assembly.
This change is intended to prevent damage to the oxygen line and of an oxygen-fed fire in the airplane.
