LOS ANGELES (CN) – Film financer Edor Financial Group Inc. says its vice president swiped the rights to the 1988 Brad Pitt film “Cutting Class” in a fraudulent sale to Lions Gate Films.
Edor Financial, the company’s CFO Rudy Cohen and “Cutting Class” producer April Productions Inc. say Edor Financial vice president Donald Beck formed Edor Films Inc. in order to look like a legitimate holder of the rights to the movie.
Lions Gate should have double checked Beck’s hold over the movie before agreeing to the deal, the plaintiffs say. Lions Gate allegedly refused to discuss the deal with the plaintiffs. It re-released “Cutting Class” on DVD and has shown it on TV, according to the lawsuit.
The plaintiffs are represented in Superior Court by Alain Bonavida.
