Fight Erupts Over ‘Ring’ Movies Profits

LOS ANGELES (CN) - The Saul Zaentz Co. demands an accounting of profits from the "Lord of the Rings" movies from New Line Cinema Corp. Zaentz says it bought film rights for the Tolkein trilogy from United Artists Corp. in 1976, licensed them to Miramax in 1997 for a percentage of the gross, and that New Line, which acquired rights from Miramax, won't show it the books, in Superior Court.
