Ferguson

(CN) - A St. Louis County Circuit judge has given a 60-day extension to a grand jury hearing evidence on whether to indict Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo., police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown.

The extension gives the grand jury until Jan. 7 to determine whether Wilson should be criminally charged. The jury's term had expired last Wednesday.

Edward Magee, a spokesman for the St. Louis County prosecuting attorney, said Tuesday that the grand jury was still hearing evidence, but "we don't believe it's going to take" until January for the jury to decide. At least nine jurors need to vote in favor of an indictment for one to be issued.
