FEMA Withdraws DC Flood Maps

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency will not expand the flood zone for downtown Washington after all, sparing the District of Columbia untold headaches and money for revised building codes and insurance. FEMA informed DC Mayor Adrian Fenty on Monday that it had rescinded the new flood maps, shortly after the District sued FEMA in Federal Court, claiming the maps were arbitrary and capricious.
