SAN DIEGO (CN) - The Department of Justice will investigate the San Diego Police Department for reports that its officers have committed crimes ranging from drunk driving to rape.
Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) announced the "six month assessment" in a statement Monday.
"The primary focus will be on police misconduct - both on duty and off duty - and include a review of operational areas such as recruitment and hiring, training, supervision, internal investigations, and the general policies and procedures of the Department," COPS Director Ron Davis said in the statement.
