SAN DIEGO (CN) - A Navy petty officer stole hundreds of military items and sold them on eBay, and exported some to Hong Kong without export licenses, federal prosecutors say. Phillip Andro Jamison is accused of stealing and selling more than 280 pieces of Navy property while stationed at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. He was arrested Monday.
Jamison faces a 6-count indictment accusing him of trafficking in stolen government property, interstate transportation of stolen goods, and four counts of exporting defense equipment without a license.
While assigned to the Navy armory at Coronado, from October 2008 until September 2009, Jamison allegedly stole, and sold, "combat grade rifle scopes," laser aiming devices, night-vision devices, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Each count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and stiff fines.
