Feds Say Man Pimped Women on the Internet

MANHATTAN (CN) - A Queens man was arrested and charged with pimping women through the Internet. Federal prosecutors say Nicholas Alvarez pimped out at least three women, transported them across state lines, took all the money they earned, and threatened and abused them when they tried to escape, including "striking with a baseball bat and holding one woman's head under water."

Alvarez used multiple aliases, including Carlos Gomez, Carlos Garcia, Jonathan Cuellar and Luis Torres, according to the criminal complaint.

He also threatened the women's families, to coerce the women into prostitution, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

If convicted, Alvarez faces up to 30 years in prison.
