Feds Say Dude Runs Internet Scam

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Chris Sommer defrauds people on the Internet by sending deceptive emails telling them they won an iPod or other "prize," with links that take the suckers to pages where they must "start the claim process," and be billed, to get their "prize," federal prosecutors say. Sommer runs Member Source Media, of San Mateo, which also operates as ConsumerGain.com, PremiumPerks.com, FreeRetailRewards.com, and GreatAmericanGiveaway.com, prosecutors say. They want him fined and restrained. See complaint.
