A former inmate may pursue her claims that she was sexually assaulted and enslaved by a captain at a federal prison, a federal court in West Virginia ruled. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency allegedly warned the woman to stop pursuing her civil case and the captain allegedly threatened her, telling her he could gather data on her family and affect her immigration status.

BLUEFIELD, W.V. — A former inmate may pursue her claims that she was sexually assaulted and enslaved by a captain at a federal prison, a federal court in West Virginia ruled. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent allegedly warned the woman to stop pursuing her civil case and the captain allegedly threatened her, telling her he could gather data on her family and affect her immigration status.
