Federal Money to Buy Greener Cars

WASHINGTON (CN) - The government will provide $3,500 or $4,500 to help consumers buy or lease a new, more fuel efficient car, van, sport utility vehicle or pickup truck when they trade in an old, less fuel efficient vehicle, under the 2009 Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has published a brief summary of the act, in question and answer format, to inform consumers and dealers of the program.
