PATENT, EXPERTS - The Federal Circuit partially reversed a $7 million judgment against Abbott Laboratories for infringing on Innogenetics' patented technology for finding and classifying hepatitis C virus genotypes in a biological sample. J. Moore found that expert testimony misunderstood the term "genotyping," but that the failure to use the district court's exact words did not change the substance of the testimony. See ruling.
