FCC: Robocalls Tying Up Emergency Call Centers

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Federal Communications Commission plans to create a do-not-call registry for 911 centers and other public safety answering points.

The FCC says robodialers tie up public safety lines, divert critical responder resources away from emergency services, and impede access by the public to emergency lines.

The agency will accept public comments on the changes, until July 23.
