FCC Asks If Cable TV|Rules Should Change

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Federal Communications Commission seeks comments on whether it should modify or extend the rule that all cable subscribers, including those with analog equipment, be able to view must-carry television signals.

The so called "viewability" rule and the small cable operators' exemption from carrying High Definition viewing are scheduled to sunset June 12, without further action.

The FCC proposes to extend the HD exemption rule for an additional three years, but asks whether this should be the final extension.
