TYLER, Texas — An appeals court in Texas upheld a finding in favor of the grandfather who purchased a shotgun for his grandson, who then accidentally shot and killed a friend during a prank. The grandfather settled with the deceased’s parents for $25,000 in their negligence suit. They are not allowed to rescind the settlement and file a new suit in light of late-received discovery, as the parents object to the form rather than the substance of the evidence that was before the court.
