EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A slip and fall at a Wal-Mart led to a man's fatal drug overdose, his family claims in Madison County Court. The fall led to back pain, for which he was prescribed the drug that killed him, the family says.
Gary Manley's family says he slipped on an oily substance at the O'Fallon, Ill. Wal-Mart on Feb. 22, 2008.
On June 10 that year, Manley sought treatment for back pain from Dr. Oscar Florendo and Osbec Medical of Southern Illinois. Manley's family says he died the next day from a Fentanyl overdose due to Florendo's negligence.
The family is represented by Jack Strellis of Waterloo, Ill.
Wal-Mart, Florendo and Osbec Medical are all named as defendants.
