Family Says School Protects Abusive Cop

AUSTIN (CN) - After a Killeen High School security officer assaulted and knocked unconscious a 14-year-old girl, the school district then filed bogus charges against her to cover for the abusive cop, who had assaulted students before, the girl and her family claim in Federal Court.

Plaintiffs say the girl was comforting a boy who had just received news, via cell phone, that a family member had died. They said officer Kenneth Edmiston elbowed her in the face, knocking her bleeding and unconscious to the floor. They claim Edmiston has repeatedly assaulted students at school, and that school Superintendent Walker Veal knows it, but repeatedly files "cover charges" against the injured students, to protect the abusive cop.

Plaintiffs demand exemplary damages for assault and battery. They are represented by Vic Feazell.
