False Claims Actions Don’t Need to Allege Payment

(CN) - Lawsuits under the False Claims Act need not claim that the government actually paid the bill, the 5th Circuit ruled. A three-judge panel reinstated a doctor's claim that Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital and seven other doctors billed Medicaid and Medicare for services that were never performed.
