In a suit brought by the GOP-led Michigan Legislature challenging Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s extension of a stay-at-home order, the state’s Court of Claims ruled that Whitmer has the authority to extend a state of emergency under the Emergency Powers of Governors Act of 1945.
