Exec Embezzled from SoCal Indians

SAN DIEGO (CN) - The former executive director of the Gaming Commission for a band of Mission Indians admitted he embezzled $57,000 from the tribe.

Troy Teague admitted he embezzled the money from La Posta Band of Mission Indians, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

Teague, 38, of El Cajon, filched the money during his reign from 2006 to 2011, prosecutors said.

He spent the money on fripperies, including gun club dues, an auto sound system, vacations, restaurants and night clubs, and so on, prosecutors said in the statement.

He faces up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000.

La Posta Band and its casino are on the edge of the desert east of San Diego.
