Excessive Force

A federal judge in Texas denied a former sheriff’s deputy’s request to stay an excessive force suit brought against him by an elderly individual who was beaten while strapped to a wheelchair. The judge said the case was the most “unjustifiable case of excessive force” he’d seen. The deputy is facing criminal charges arising from the same incident.

MARSHALL, Texas — A federal judge in Texas declined to stay an excessive force suit brought against a former sheriff’s deputy’s request by an elderly individual who was beaten while strapped to a wheelchair. The judge said the case was the most “unjustifiable case of excessive force” he’d seen. The deputy is facing criminal charges arising from the same incident.
