(CN) - A federal prison guard was sentenced to 8 months in prison for helping an inmate "escape." She drove the man, who was serving 17 years for drug crimes, to her home "on numerous occasions" for an "intimate relationship," then took him back to prison, prosecutors said.
Hope Spinato, 42, of Pinebush, N.Y., took the prisoner from the Otisville federal prison to her home and back again. She pleaded guilty in April to aiding and abetting the brief escape on July 15, 2007, but admitted she helped the man escape on other days too, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
