CHICAGO (CN) - The 7th Circuit revived a Prada saleswoman's claim that the fashion company discriminated against her because she is an Iranian Muslim and retaliated to her complaints by spreading rumors about her.
Judge Posner said Parisima Abdullahi's Title VII claims, with the exception of her retaliation claim, were time-barred, but her federal law discrimination claims are not. The district judge had dismissed the case on the basis that Abdullahi failed to state a racial discrimination claim.
The appeals court remanded to determine whether Abdullahi was alleging discrimination based on race, nationality or ethnicity - grounds that Posner said are correlated, but not synonymous.
