WASHINGTON (CN) - The Department of Homeland Security plans to prohibit awarding its guard contracts to security companies owned, operated or controlled by individuals convicted of a serious felony.
The felonies targeted by proposed department regulations include those that would cast doubt on the integrity of the business: fraud; bribery, graft or a conflict of interest; threatened or actual harm to a government official, family member or government property; crimes of violence; threat to national security; commercial bribery; counterfeiting, forgery or trafficking in stolen or altered vehicles; obstruction of justice, perjury or subornation of perjury, or bribery of a witness; felony for attempt to evade or defeat federal tax or felony for willful failure to collect or pay federal tax.
