Ex-ACORN Official Gets Probation for Bonuses

LAS VEGAS (CN) - The former supervisor of the local ACORN office got three years probation Monday for paying canvassers bonuses for registering Nevada voters during last year's presidential campaign.

Christopher Edwards pleaded guilty in August to two misdemeanor charges of conspiracy for awarding so-called "blackjack" bonuses to canvassers who got 21 or more voter registration cards in August and September 2008.

The probation was part of a plea deal in which Edwards promised to testify against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now and a former regional supervisor, The Associated Press reported.
