EU Seen Through Stats

The European Union had an infant mortality rate of 0.47 percent in 2006, well below the U.S. rate of 0.67 percent, a number that would rank the United States at 25th out of 28 if it were an EU member. The Eurostat Yearbook 2009 released this month reported that more women than men in the EU had PhDs while the opposite is true in the United States. Denmark had the highest number of people with a second job, 10 percent, while business and financial activity made up 28 percent of the European economy.
