BRUSSELS – Retail sales in the 19-state eurozone fell by 0.1 percent in January but rose by the same amount in the full European Union, the EU statistics office Eurostat said Friday.
Officials attributed the eurozone’s decline to drops in sales of nonfood products and in the food, drinks and tobacco sector. Sales of automotive fuel rose across the EU, however.
