EU High Court Finds Fault|With Flemish-Only Law

LUXEMBOURG (CN) — The European Court of Justice struck down Flemish legislation Tuesday that voids invoices if they are not drawn up in a particular language.

New Valmar is based in a Dutch-speaking region of Belgium but worded the invoices for Italy-based Global Pharmacies Partner Health in Italian. Global Pharmacies said the invoices were void since Flemish law required their wording in Dutch.

For the EU's highest court, however, this constitutes a restriction on the free movement of goods.
