EU Employment Gains

Employment is slowly rising in the European Union, with Denmark way out in front tallying a 77% employment rate for those aged 15 to 64. Denmark also had the highest percentage of women working at 73%. The overall rate of employment in the EU is 65.4%, slightly above last year's numbers and well above the 62.1% figure in 2000. Those with the worst records in terms of the difference between employment for men and for women included Spain and Italy.
