EPA Wants to Hear of New Uses of 17 Chemicals

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Environmental Protection Agency must be notified whenever any of 17 chemicals will be manufactured, imported or processed in a way other than ways already approved by the EPA.

Notification allows the EPA to evaluate toxicity and stop a project before it may cause harm.

Notification must occur 90 days before processing the chemicals for uses not already approved by the agency.
