WASHINGTON (CN) - EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson refuses to promulgate regulations to control air pollution from PVC plants, though the deadline for it was nearly 8 years ago, three environmental groups claim in Federal Court.
The Clean Air Act demanded that the regulations be promulgated by Nov. 15, 2000, according to plaintiffs Mossville Environmental Action Now, Louisiana Environmental Action Network, and the Sierra Club. The EPA hasn't done it yet. They ask the court to order him to do it.
PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride. Concerns about its safety have been raised for problems beyond clean air, including toys children may chew on, and the safety of PVC sex toys.
