Environmentalists Sue Interior Department|To Protect Bitter Lake Wildlife Refuge

ALBUQUERQUE (CN) - U.S. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne illegally refuses to establish critical habitat for several endangered species in the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, preferring to let oil companies and real estate developers despoil the land, the Forest Guardians claim in Federal Court. They sued in Federal Court to protect migratory birds, fish, mollusks and crustaceans, including the Roswell and Koster's springsnails, Pecod assiminea and Noel's amphipod. See complaint.
