Environmentalists Challenge Logging Project

MISSOULA, Mont. (CN) - The U.S. Forest Service approved 1,572 acres of logging and construction of 5 miles of roads in critical habitat for moose and grizzly bear in the Gallatin National Forest, the Native Ecosystems Council and the Alliance for the Wild Rockies claim in Federal Court.

The environmental groups challenge the Lonesome Wood Vegetation Management Project in the Hebgen Lake Ranger District of the Gallatin National Forest. They are represented by Rebecca Smith with the Public Interest Defense Center.
