WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CN) - An emergency response service claims that a competitor masqueraded as state tax officials to steal proprietary information from it and its customers.
Statcomm Medical Communications Service also claims that Emergency Response Answering Service hacked into its computers to disrupt its business, posed as Verizon workers to disrupt its phone service, sent fraudulent letters claiming to be state tax officials, and lied to Statcomm customers, telling them Statcomm was insolvent and going out of business.
Statcomm claims Emergency Response vice president Gerald Martin pleaded guilty to a criminal misdemeanor in this case. It demands disgorgement and damages for defamation, RICO violations, interference with contract, and negligence. Statcomm is represented in Westchester County Court by Frank Taubner with Jasne & Florio.
