Cynthia Harkness, general counsel for Fieldstone Investment Corp., claims Fieldstone fired her illegally to retaliate for her report that its CEO Michael Sonnenfeld had disclosed inside information to an outside investor, in violation of federal securities law. After 18 years on the job, Con-Way Freight fired a worker 18 monthsbefore he qualified for retirement benefits, and to retaliate for his complaints of racial harassment, discrimination and safety violations, Jesus Cisneros claims in Ventura County Court, Calif.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Box Fresh Pictures and Sony BMG Management, Nijjar Realty, Cool Cuts 4 Kids, and Rapid Plumbing, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Lowe's Home Centers, in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court; Castro Homes, Rohan Aviation, Sheehan Buick Pontiac GMC, and Gold Star Towing, in West Palm Beach Federal Court; and Brown Bottling Group, Shipper's Express, and Carter and Gardner Landscape, in Jackson, Miss., Federal Court.
