A class-action complaint claims the Barnert Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees mismanaged the hospital so badly the 19 named plaintiffs lost their jobs, or may lose them, in Paterson County Court, N.J.

Charlotte Whitfield claims Bruce Clippinger, owner of Clippinger Enterprises, an insurance business, harassed and wrongfully fired her after reducing her to "a quivering mass of flesh that was a mere shadow of her former self," in Kansas City, Kan., Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Downey Savings and Loan Association, in Orange County Court, Calif.; Meadowlark Assisted Living Community, in Siskiyou County Court, Calif.; Harbor UCLA Medical Center, Chocolat Restaurant & Bar, Central Parking System, and Sheraton Town House and associates, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Checkups Holdings, in New Orleans Federal Court; St. Paul Guardian Insurance Co., in New York County Court; United Stor-All Centers, in DC Federal Court; GLE Associates, in Tampa Federal Court; Regions Bank, Best Deli of Tamarac, and Armada Protection Systems 2000, in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court; and Best Pei Wei Asian Diner, in Miami Federal Court.
