Bosses at Frontier Communications of America had her maliciously prosecuted on false charges of arson after she was hired to close down Frontier's Kingman, Ariz., office, Nancy Termini claims in Prescott Federal Court.

Tammy Smith claims that Ray Hart, her boss at Grill & Chill Restaurants Brooksville, fired her for hiring co-plaintiff Melvin Stevenson, who is black, after Hart told her to "fire every nigger in here," in Tampa Federal Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Countrywide Home Loans, on behalf of "loan specialists," in Oakland, Calif., Federal Court; American Medical Response, in Alameda County Court, Oakland; Koosharem Corp. dba Select Staffing, and Maruchan, in a single claim in Santa Barbara Superior Court; Providence Everett Medical Center, in Snohomish County Court, Wash.; Mountain View Personal Care Home, in Atlanta Federal Court; Litetronics International, in Passaic County Court, N.J.; Arbor Tech of Miami and Salman Maintenance Service, in Miami Federal Court; and All Webbs Enterprises, in West Palm Beach Federal Court.
