     A Washington Mutual Bank vice president harassed and wrongfully fired a black employee after subjecting him to racial insults, including this repeated reference to slave ships: “We gave you people a free boat ride over here, at least you could close some loans!” the fired loan officer claims in Los Angeles Federal Court.




     
     Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: International Coffee & Tea, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Adventist Health and St. Helena Hospital, in Placer County Court, Calif.; Charter Communications, in Madison, Wis., Federal Court; Bridgestone-Firestone North American Tire, in Alameda County Court, Oakland; Metropolitan Cable Communications and Time Warner, in Queens County Court, N.Y.; Bonnie Plant Farm, in Kansas City, Kan., Federal Court; Comcast, and Aqua Gulf Transport, in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court; Talascend and EPCGlobal, in Marshall, Texas, Federal Court.
