Four women say the Detroit Police Department forced them to take extended, unpaid "sick leave" when they became pregnant, in a discrimination claim in Detroit Federal Court.

The Department of Fair Employment and Housing accuses Shea Homes Marketing Co., Noah Goodman, Tracy Doud, Scott Merson, and Susan Thomas of racial and sexual discrimination and harassment, in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Robert Half International, for racial discrimination, in Alameda County Court, Oakland; Bally Total Fitness, in Alameda County Court, Oakland; Mission Linen Supply, in Orange County Court, Calif.; San Luis Mechanical and Icon Construction Co., in San Luis Obispo County Court; Toys R Us, The Handyman Solution, KFC U.S. Properties, and Parking Concepts, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Anderson Merchandiser, for a mass layoff, in Knoxville Federal Court; Apple American Group, in San Francisco Federal Court; Dancers Showclub, in Indianapolis Federal Court; the Town of Tonawanda, in Buffalo Federal Court; DRE Management, USI Services Group, National Sports Lounge, Cain Fence Rental, and Osborn Foreign & American Auto Parts, in Dallas Federal Court; Builder's Publishing Co., in Johnson County Court, Olathe, Kan.; Jackson Express Hotel Investments, in Jackson, Miss., Federal Court; and Family Dollar Stores, in Birmingham, Ala., Federal Court.
