In a discrimination claim in Duval County Court, Fla., a waitress says Carlson Hotels Management fired her for violating its policy that prohibits employees from speaking Spanish anywhere on its property, to anyone, whether on or off duty, "in any regard or under any circumstances."

Northrop Grumman fired a lead mechanic for blowing the whistle on its fraud and waste on a government contract, Daniel Modugno claims in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: First Franklin Financial Corp., in Los Angeles Superior Court; Four Seasons Resort Maui, The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Wailea Marriott Resort, and Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel & Resort, in Honolulu Federal Court; Broadband Access Networking Group, in Boston Federal Court; Prospect Capital Corp., in Gulfport, Miss., Federal Court; and PBS of Central Florida, in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court.
