Aramark Educational Services sued Unite Here! Local 217, seeking to vacate arbitration that ordered it to rehire a worker who allegedly harassed a female student at the University of Hartford. The worker allegedly defended himself by saying that "women love him," Aramark claims in Hartford Federal Court.
In separate complaints in Alexandria, Va., Federal Court, six people claim Geeks on Call America changed their franchise agreements unilaterally without notice. Each seeks $1 million plus punitive damages.
Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Antelope Valley Newspapers, Valvoline Instant Oil Change, Trilussa restaurant, and Matrix Service, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Ben & Jack's Steakhouse, in Manhattan Federal Court; Skyvisions dba Cable Connections, Direct Buy of Orlando, and Reedy's All Service, in Orlando Federal Court; O'Brien Wire Products of Texas, in Houston Federal Court; JP Morgan Chase/Chase Investment Services, in Newark Federal Court; Asset Investigations & Recovery, in Tampa Federal Court; Pacific Beach Corp., and Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach and Spa, in Honolulu Federal Court; and ConocoPhillips and Burlington Resources, in Madison County Court, Ill.
