Sierra Orlando Properties dba Caribe Royale Orlando recruited more than 100 housekeepers from the Philippines and cheated them on wages, a class action claims in Orlando Federal Court. The hotel allegedly recruited the workers through hiring agents Northwest Placement and DHI LLC.

Similar class actions in Orlando Federal Court have been filed against Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress and the Orange Lake County Club, both of which are accused of recruiting the workers through Northwest Placement and DHI. See Courthouse News' Dec. 19 page for those stories.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Circuit City Stores, ReadyPac Produce, and Longs Drug Stores of California, in Los Angeles Superior Court; Elite Technology, in Central Islip, N.Y., Federal Court; Cook Retail Construction Services, in Ocala, Fla., Federal Court; Power Fasteners, in Orlando Federal Court; Benn Trans, in Las Vegas Federal Court; Bracchia Concrete and Building Contractors, in Philadelphia Federal Court; Encore Senior Living, and Kyn-Tek & Associates, in Tampa Federal Court; and Serco Inc., in Frankfort, Ky., Federal Court.
